Title: Rhodadendren
Post by: 870BkWht on August 20, 2011, 12:35:39 AM
I asked a call maker on the board this question already, but has anyone ever tried to use this wood/shrub for a striker?  I thought it would be kinda nostalgic since the Rhododendron is the state flower of WV.  Anyone have any experience with this?

Sorry. Never even heard of the stuff. Might be worth giving it a try.

Roger Parks uses this wood for his keekee striker that was used on the keekee call that is now made by Woodhaven. You can still buy this striker from him.  Bill

I had a fellow make a striker for me out of Mountain Laurel. Turned out real nice and sound good as well. The trick here is to get a piece thick and long enough work.
