I just picked up these 3. A bit of a learning curve to running them but they have a lot of turkey in them!

can you tell us the type of wood in those calls??
Top is Teak and Snakewood, middle is Mora and Walnut, and bottom is Ambrosia Maple and Honduran Rosewood.

Definite learning curve but worth it. Nice looking calls.
Hen's boxes have their on unique sounds , that do have a learning curve and in the heat of battle you can mess up. My suggestion is stick with one of each and learn the feel of the call and the way it likes played before playing the other ones. It's all about the feel and how it wants played.
The Fulkerson definitely plays easier than the Hudson's. Thanks for the advice!

I feel right the opposite , i think the Hudson are easier to play with the narrow sound chamber.

I was all thumbs until I took this advice, helped me a lot. I've heard some play them that was impressive. I'm far from good on one but a Turpin is a versatile call. You have no need to look farther than what you're holding.
I think I'm going to wait for our Fall season to hunt them. Hopefully I'll get some practice in before then. I can hear several different birds in each caller.

I really like the teak and snakewood, sweet calls.
You'll have to re-chalk that teak more often for a while, until it cures out because it's oily. Aside from that, it's a killer call.
I have heard that about the teak before but have only re chalked mine once, when I got it in the mail box it was close to 95 degrees and I brought it in the a nice air conditioned 70 degrees and it wouldn't play any! I wiped the rails down and re chalked, it still singing a year later!

That's generally true but, if that's the teak I think it is, it's old and pretty dry. You may not have to do that with that particular call.
Richard scores the underside of the lid on mostly all of his calls. What I like to do is take a new toothbrush and brush the grooves out before I rechalk. Not entirely necessary but you will get all of the old chalk out before you rechalk...
Good advice. I'll try that.
Really nice calls you got there. Been looking at hen box calls alot recently and want to get one eventually
Get yourself one....you won't be disappointed!

And they are both great guys!
I have never talked to Richard before but everyone says he is a nice guy. I obviously have talked to Matt and he is a too notch man. Definitely getting another call from him.

rakkin, Richard's shop is very close to you if you're still at Campbell. I'm guessing you'd enjoy that visit.
Yeah I am still at Fort Campbell. Where is he located
