just got new stoeger 3020 bottomland does anybody have ejection problems with 3" federal like franchi affinity or benelli ordering new tss just wondering
Disclaimer: I don't have a Stoeger, but do have other semi-auto 20's in the Benelli family. It's universal to them. Not an ejection problem. Three inch shells, including Federals, will load, fire and eject fine. The problem is getting most roll-crimped 3" shells to follow the previous shell. It's a matter of overall length of the shells. Everything else being equal, roll-crimped shells are slightly longer than star-crimped/folded ones. Some here have said roll-crimped Apex shells are shorter and will feed fine.
thanks spurs up should i go to 2 3/4 shells for back up

That's a viable option, for sure. I prefer to use just 2-3/4" loads, rather than mix them, to ensure consistent POI and performance. I handload them myself but think Apex offers a 1-5/8 oz, 2-3/4" shell. Also, I think there is now at least one commercial TSS shotshell manufacturer that makes fold crimped 3" shells in 20 gauge. They should cycle and follow fine.
