My question is about queen wood strikers. What's it comparable to sound wise, and who makes a great mushroom tip in this species.

Queen wood is about like purpleheart to me about the same hardness..

Gobbleandgrunt

Thanks. I figured it was harder.  It sure is heavy. Thanks Jessie.

I have never heard of queen wood....I'm also interested in who makes strikers out of it.

Here's a Queenwood striker that I made.  Sounds good on most surfaces.

Doesn't have a mushroom tip but it is available.

What's it most like in your opinion?

It's hard for me to say what it most sounds like.  I'll let you decide.  Here is my Queenwood striker on a Clint Corder aluminum, Lonzo Trice glass over slate, Glen Marrer glass over glass, Lonnie Snead Hot Hen, My titanium pot, my ceramic pot, Frank Kruer copper and a John Sinclair brass.
