I saw an interesting piece on TV last nite about making baseball bats.
After the lathe work and sanding is done they take what looks like an old dried out leg bone from a cow and run it it over the bat while it turns on the lathe. They said this hardens the surface of the wood. Any of you pot makers do this?

Barry, never tried it, but I would imagine the oils in the bone would transfer into the woods surface, I use an ivory sliver to burn into my strikers rings for decorations, but never thought about applying an actual bone on the surface of a pot call. May be interesting. pappy
