Title: Halloran long box question
Post by: tjh24 on March 04, 2022, 03:56:59 PM
Hey guys,

I just got a David Halloran long box today.  I noticed it doesn't have a spring where the paddle and the box are attached like most box calls would.  Is this by design or a missed step?  I've reached out to him via phone message and email, but I was wondering if anyone out there knew?

I was wondering that. Never owned a long box before! Thanks for clearing that up.  Just out of curiosity... why don't they have a spring?

Several builders use springs in their long box, but most don't. Albert Paul uses springs in his long box and Doug camp used springs in the screaming hen long box also. Some like the playability of the spring with the long box sound.

When you play a LB you manipulate the lid for different birds
