I'd say that I've unintentionally killed a few jakes but I didn't accidentally kill a turkey.

General Forum / I'll see you in March

Headed up to our hunting property Saturday afternoon.  Needing to cut a couple tree branches that have grown in front of a few cell cameras since spring.   Pulled a couple cards to check on property, never know who or what is around while you aint there.  Lotta bucks on camera and a few birds.  Daughter shot her .22 for a bit before going to catch a bunch of bream.  We were gonna run down to some state land and pig hunt but she wanted to keep fishing.  She did pretty good especially after all the rain we've had in the last few days.  Did see 1 hen fly out of a grown up foodplot.  But hopefully ol son will survive and stay healthy until March.  He got a rope on him.

Primos Ol Betsy with the laminated striker.  Still my favorite.  It has been the demise of countless gobblers and is responsible for my Grand Slam.

Gotta say, I'm not so confident on keeping something on ice for weeks and eating it.

It needs to be frozen as far as food safety is concerned.

Push Pin Turkey Calls / Re: Push pin kill thread
Last post by merriamsman - Today at 12:02:06 PM
Here's another bird taken with a push-pin. Got him started with a Screamin' Hen longbox and finished him with only clucks from an OG Macassar ebony push-pin. I've 'discovered' that using only clucks is a great way to get that gobbler to come all the way to the gun. Yelping may get the bird started, but clucking only seems to be the ticket to avoid a bird hanging up.
