With these guys we should do good.
Hey team, what's up in your area? All good here, working my tail of trying to secure a Tennessee hunting spot so I can hand out a few extra death certificates this spring... I'm so pumped for the upcoming season. Their for the big welcome to the team. I will not disappoint, and from what I have been told we are expected to beat team Alabama this year..... I'm all in
That bunch has turkzillas running on there property's lol I hope things are better on my spots than last year had a good poult population predators been hurting me but thinned some out hoping this season it pays off
Everyone welcome YoungbuckTX to the team he filled our last spot
Hey Guys. I know a few people on the OG, but I am new here myself. Thanks Nick for the add. I live and hunt in South Carolina. Grew up in Texas, and lived in Alabama for awhile during college. Killed my first bird 5 years ago in Alabama and have been hooked since. I am usually good for a bird or 2 each season (knock wood). I will be spending a lot of time in the woods this Spring, starting March 20th. We have a fairly new baby at home, not sure if I will get to hunt OOS this year any. Most of my vacation time and points with the wife were used during duck season. Looking forward to the contest, and getting to know you all. Good luck.

Welcome aboard!!! Looking forward to seeing some dead turkeys in about 30 days
Welcome young buck..... I'm new this year myself
Welcome to the team. Yes we are a little crazy and cap hooks dose have a nervous twitch every time you mention Waffle House but other wise we're just hard core turkey hunters.
Welcome to the New guys
Any story that involves Waffle House and nervous twitch must be a good one
welcome aboard, youngbuck
south carolina, eh? dont recall if we have other hunters from SC, but i know our team has a lot of states covered with our 12 turkey slayers
btw, nice pic :icon_thumright:
Welcome guys!! :wagon: We did decent last year. I'd sure would like to see us on top at the end of this year!!
My schedule is for 4 States this season with an invite to a fifth. And there is always a possibility of KS in May so I'm going to do my best to put a good one on the board.
I want to hear this Waffle House story
The Perkins Restaurant story with JBlackburn is best.
I still think you over paid at waffle house.....
I sleep well knowing I took the high road
got a couple OSS in the mail. great sounding call :icon_thumright: :icon_thumright:
gonna hafta squeeze 1 more into the mouth call pouch :gobble:
Might sound crazy but I just ain't a mouth call guy. I've used it a time or two but I love a pot call! My Gooserbat glass call sounds great!

does he out score your first bird if so you can upgrade him
I think but ask someone to be sure you are only allowed one upgrade. If so wait until the end to do any upgrades.

It's opening day boys!!!!
2 weeks from today :turkey2:
heard lots of gobbling while scouting last week
got drawn for my third permit last week, too
Hunted Saturday and today. So far 5 gobblers in gun range. 4 no shot provided in tough terrain, and 1 I called up this morning my uncle was with me and killed it. 2 year old bird.
awful quiet around here
everybody must be whackin and stackin 'em ;D
9 birds in range and I still haven't been able to make a shot
I had a couple friends get birds today being opening day at home but yeah it is pretty quiet
I've got an 8 foot fence with razor wire on top boogering me. They come right up to it and gobble at me for ever! They just won't fly over but my side is full of tracks so I know they come over it... Time to hunt new birds
I'm just sitting over here waiting.
Have 6 Jake's in range Sat and let them go .then called one up Sunday for the wife ..2 year old bird 9 1/2 beard 3/4 spurs and 19 pounds...put on good show .
I have to wait until the following weekend to start smashing birds in the face.... And to top that off I have to call in birds for 2 other people first..... But that shouldn't be a problem....... I struck out finding I spot in Tennessee while I was down there....... Good luck guys
16 more days for me
On the board guys!! Killed him at 7pm this evening. He attacked my jake decoy and was mounting my hen when I shot him. 19.2lbs, 11in beard, 1 inch spurs. Scores 61.2
Congratulations tk bustr
I've been hearing lots of birds hear at home. Won't be able to hunt them until next Monday. Heading to western OK in about 4 hours
Good luck Gooserbat

good luck to sam and all the other chooters about to head out
monday opener for me getting closer. on a scout last week, had at least 30 come out in a field after flydown, they eventually worked toward me and 9 strutters passed at about 50 yards ...
Way to go TB. I should have made it this morning. Had him at 20, the tree was at 15 :angry9: Oh well, hopefully tomorrow
Great job turkey buster
Thanks guys. I'm back on the grind of work but even with 10 hour work days I'm gonna try to punch that last tag on a few evening hunts. I'm not off again for over a week. Thank goodness for daylight savings time. Lol
Still over a week away for the KY opener. I'm trying to find a place to hunt this weekend in TN or GA. So far not working out. Good job on the turkeys so far gentlemen.
Just watched two of the heaviest birds I've ever seen strut and gobble for about 30 minutes. Stupid field birds went to roost the other way and never got closer than 75 yards. Back to work in the morning. Evening hunt only blues !
Gooserbat that is a nice bird I seen on Facebook ????
i saw that, too, great tom
geared up for opening day tomorrow. goin to a place where i had 4 toms struttin 30 yards away on fridays scout

Is it too late to get leftover tags in Illinois? I have a place to hunt in Clay County and web shows they have 3 tags left for 4th and plenty for the 5th. I've deer hunted there but never turkey and never put in for turkey tags. IL has to be one of the most difficult states as far as licensing goes for non-residents.

i poked around on the idnr site and couldnt find any current application info. theres no over the counter sale on spring turkey
i was blocked from some links; dont know if that is because app period is closed or because i already have the max 3 tags
there used to be a random daily draw until you got 3 tags, but all i saw was "4th lottery deadline march 9."
i know its pricey for nonres with hunting license, habitat stamp in addition to the permit cost
after a little more thought ... i am pretty sure nonresidents must apply for the 2nd lottery, which had a deadline of jan. 9
you might have to call dnr to be sure

nice work Tom
It's lockjaw in Tennessee this morning
Same thing in Louisiana. Overcast and mosquitos always mean no turkey here
Bad luck!!!
Went out on my deer lease that has maybe one turkey on it this evening. Walking down a road that is 1.5 miles long I decided to go to the end around a beaver pond. I set up and called for two hours to no avail. Walked the 1.5 miles back to see a gobbler had walked right past my truck and stepped in several of my boot tracks. What makes it bad is I almost set up there because of an old food plot that's about shin deep on the side of the road and decided to go to the pond. Only good thing is I got 3 miles of exercise and I know where he went in the woods at. I didn't hear him gobble at dark but I'm 50% certain he's within a couple hundred yards of there because the woods gets thick on the green head below it.

i know that feeling well. after covering a couple miles with no luck the second day of the season, i get back to my truck at 1 pm quittin time and theres a strutting tom and his hens 20 yards from my truck ::)
i didnt draw a second season tag, so my season is on hold til friday when 3rd season begins, but i plan to keep tabs on them this week ;)
Got a bird yesterday. I get very limited service out here. Should score high 60s I guess. Hunting tomorrow morning then headed home.
Congrats! My season is probably over. Lots of rain and work this week and it closes this sunday
My buddy and out team mate Whitney Lewis just killed his 2nd bird of the year. His first one he didn't get to score but he just sent me the info and pics on #2. I'll get it on here this evening after work so we can get his score recorded

Guys I made a mistake yesterday called one up and he can in threw a thicket and I could see his head and knew he was a Tom but that's all I could see good so u shot and then got to him and sure enough he is a Jake
Very nice bird sonafabuck

I had a great hunt.. He had a good gobble not like most Jake's and no I got 3 more tags just got to get time to hunt
A good hunt buddy don't sweat the jake. I'll kill one on purpose if he had me mad enough or he offered a good hunt. Did you score him? Always can upgrade
The older I get I appreciate the quality of the experience more than the quality of the animal. Not that I mind killing quality mature animals. LOL.
I agree I enjoy a good hunt...first Jake I have shot in many years ...no I didn't score him now that u said that I should have
that's 2 members now with kills but no score... come on guys!
I'm hitting the woods Saturday and hunting for ten days hopefully I can come up with somthing
Tagged out guys!!! Season closes tomorrow and I have to work. So I was making my last hunt of the year this evening. About 4pm three public land jakes came in and I got my first 20ga turkey!! He might be Jake from State Farm but like I said if the situation is right I'll shoot one. This situation was eat him or eat the tag and I cant go to any other states this year and was done until 2017. Also the heavyweight 7's rocked his world
Details to follow. Over 60

I'm just glad I could help out since I got skunked last year but I'm not done hopefully I can get s upgrade
punched tag no. 2 but no upgrade
10 + 1/1 + 22 = 62
3rd and final season for me starts thursday
Tom- you're on fire. and awesome job Nick
Get'em Tom I got my bow set up to get me a archery kill still got a two year old and some jakes on my spot gonna try rest of this week if no luck I'm getting the gun back out
i was debating taking the bow, but rain/tstorms forecast for 4 of the first 5 days, so i think my chances will be a lot better with ol mossy
have been updating our score but not all teams posting in the RUNNING SCORE THREAD. looks like we are in 2nd place behind roaring 20s. still a long ways to go in the contest but a good season so far for the chooters :icon_thumright:

How's everybody been it's a little quiet here
We need an.update on the team score and who's killed what.
No upgrades for me. Killed my limit here at home and for the 2nd straight year I can't travel out of state. My 1st scored bird will be what we use for the contest and my 2nd bird was a jake.
Sam I got the best birds posted and even the others killed by each teammate that scored there bird
Score is currently 429.2475
On tuesday I hunted a family farm in GA that I haven't hunted in a while. Didn't see or hear a bird. As a matter of fact I didn't even see the first bit of sign. Everyone around there has a crap load of dogs now. I heard them barking and running through the woods all morning. The place used to be loaded!! Seems all the dogs keep them run off now. :'( :'( My girl has a soccer tourny this weekend but I'm headed up to our KY lease to hunt Monday and Tuesday if the weather will cooperate.
upgrade alert :z-guntootsmiley: :happy0064:
You a killer Tom can't wait to see it
set up on a field where i heard a bunch of gobbling but couldnt get one to commit friday
had half a dozen sounding off in the woods behind me
heard em fly down, a couple soft yelps and tagged out at 602 am
second tom this year on the gooserbat double bit
multiple pix can be a pain. will get contest pix posted later today or tomorrow
Your on fire this year buddy! Awesome and way to go
Heck of a bird!!! Congrats!!
Congratulations on the bird man
Great job, glad the DB is working for you.
Upgraded my bird was disappointed in the spur length but after a 200 yd belly crawl pursuit in a field during a thunderstorm keeping him in range using the bacon by Gooserbat only too miss him yesterday but got another crack at him in my comfy dry ground blind today using a she mobile and misfire glass call he came right in
Thanks Sam and Lee for the great calls (http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160503/b504ee499ecb18ee29cbd4bbaa36d77e.jpg)

chooters puttin the hurt on em this year
Awesome Nick
Anybody know where I can find some Winchester supreme 3.5 2 oz 6
Not an upgrade but a nice bird. Double with a couple friends in Missouri this morning about 7:45.
Good 2 year old at 20lbs 3 oz, 10 3/4" beard and 7/8 spurs.
No weight on Casey's bird but 1 1/8 spurs and 10 1/4" beard.
looking good, sam
btw, has nomo got a bird yet?
A Jake that he didn't score. He's fell in love and at the present time is basically worthless unless the little girl involved is in the picture.
nothin wrong with that. just take her along hunting
Well guys my Kentucky season is over. I might get to hunt next weekend here in TN but doubtful. Ky was not good to us this year. Hunting was really tough. Out of the eight guys that hunted on 2,000 acres we only killed 4 birds. One was a jake. Not sure what the deal was this year. None of us saw a single bird strutting anywhere near our lease the entire season. That's including driving back and forth to the lease.
We need a few more birds to score!!! Who's still hunting?!?!
Tiny smoked 2 in Kansas waiting to hear if they're upgrades
good deal. great job, tiny
