Title: Why not a sharpie?
Post by: dreis3 on February 20, 2011, 03:43:02 PM
I've been using the pilot ballpoint pen that most on here use to write on calls. But I tried an extra fine point sharpie today to write on a piece of padauk. It went a heck of a lot smoother than the pen. Is there a downfall to using the sharpie? Will it fade over time?    Will it react in a negative way to the finish? Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks!

I've been using Micro Sharpies since 2002 without any issues other than they dry out too quickly.

I use the industrial strength sharpie. I always had it run with a lacquer finish, but I've been using an oil varnish blend for the last few years that works great with the sharpie.
