helped a friend clean out a home that was owned by someone who made flutes and other musical instruments, there was a large amount of amazon rosewood and some other wood that looks like black walnut. can't tell what it is, turned a peice my hands were covered with black dust. anyone have a idea what it may be. that rosewood is beautiful
post a pic of the wood.
black dust could indicate African Blackwood or an Ebony of somesort, with the background information about the flute making I would say it could be Blackwood.
If your hands were covered in black dust, I would lean towards ebony or African Blackwood
sorry guys can't seem to load picturs, says my file is to large.
My guess without seeing pictures would also be blackwood or possibly grenadillo. My daughter has a grenadillo clarinet that appears black. It has a deep violet/black coloration.
