Title: Hevi?
Post by: wisconsinteacher on May 23, 2014, 11:22:18 AM
Dreaming of getting a 16 and 410 some day and shooting a turkey with them I did some looking Hevi Shot and see they have Duck and Classic Double loads in #7 shot for both rounds.  Does anyone have any experience with these and what are your thoughts on using them for turkeys?

Of the commercially available loads for 16 gauge, Nitro Ammo makes the best turkey load.  I would be concerned about running out of pattern density with #7 Hevi shot in the .410 before running out of penetration.  I want  a minimum of 100 pellets in the center 10" of a pattern at the range I choose to shoot.  This is the minimum standard for all gauges.

I have shot the Classic Doubles a great deal and am more than pleased with both the
penetration and pellet count in my .410.  I would recommend it all day long.

I love the Classic Double shotgun shells.
What's so special about them? I use Hevishot but I am not familiar with the Classic Double. Thx.
