Nice..thats right in line with what i am turning with my Rem 870 21 barrel Kicks .655
210-220 in a 10" @ 40. Hevi 3/2/7's
I have the same gun and shoot the same choke, with the #7's I get around 240. Did you give the barrel a good cleaning???
I have a 11-87 with 21" cantilever barrel that has been polished. I use the IC .665 with Hevi 13 3-2-6 and I am getting avg. of four shot of 205 pellets in the 10" circle @ 40 yards. If you have not polished that barrel I would. It could give you a few more pellets in the 10" @ 40 yards. But that is some great patterns. I have not shot the Hevi 13 3-2-7 loads yet. I have been hunting in SC where the #7 loads are not legal to shoot. But I may pick me some up and give them a try. Thanks for sharing your results, Mike

I didnt know they were illegal. Where does it say that in the rules?
Im also going to throw a few HS Mag blends down the tube today and see how that patterns compared to the #7s.With the JellyHead .660
7s are legal in SC to my knowledge. Lots of fellows use them, especially 20 gaugers.
I have not read the reg's about it for this year. But SC use to have shot size limit for turkey. Bill Davis of Pure Gold use to talk about? I guess I should have checked the Sc regs this year. I could have used them #7 loads.

Thats impressive..if i could turn over 200 with Hevi 3/2/6's i dont think i would ever even consider shooting 7's.
Ok threw 2 shots down range today with the JellyHead .665 and the Hevi-Shot 3-2-7's and heres the patterns.

So between the 2 shots they averaged 213 bb's inside a 10"circle at 40 yds.The JellyHead .660 averaged 211 inside the 10"circle with a 5 shot average. So basically it was a draw between the JellyHead .660 and the JellyHead .665.
I shot 2 shots with the Hevi-shot Mag Blend 3-2-5,6,7's and they averaged 165 bb's inside the 10"circle at 40 yds.
In my testing now between the H-S Mag Blend and the HS #7's is that i get approximately 50 more hits inside the 10"circle at 40 yds with the 7's.
Hope this helps a few ppl out if there decideing what load or choke they want to shoot. If anyone is looking for a Jellyhead .665 for a Remington PM me and i'll give you a better deal than i got on this one.Theres been a total of about 20 shots run through it,id also consider a trade.
Thanks,
Kdog
Thanks for the info..not sure about Rem but that JH .660 will turn some awesome patterns out of a beretta with hevi 3/2/6's. 7's is definately what i turned the highest numbers @ 40 out of my xtrema and urika. I believe you are ready to kill turkeys..nice gun! :smiley-char092:
Killer patterns!
Man kdog, you scored BIG on that gun. Beautiful gun, fantastic pattern!
Those Patterns will do!!
Very nice.

Great patterns kdog !!

I agree with the barrel polishing.

You polish that barrel and your pattens should improve..... The Mag Blends would probably do better with an IC .665.... .660 is a little too tight for Hevi MB's
shouldn't have no problems with those patterns
Nice patterns. Love the gun, wanting to upgrade to one.
some fine looking killer patterns ....good luck with them
Using a 28" Barrel and Indian Creek .665, I got 294 with the H13 3-2-7 and 180 with 3" Magnum Blend. It appears that the short barrel is costing you a little in pattern numbers, but those patterns are nice and even. FWIW, I never could get the same numbers as others did out of the H13 3-2-6.
thanks I have the .665 jellyhead and was wondering about the .660 and if it would help much.. I have considered trying a IC or Sumtoy this year as well.
I have an 870 21" barrel (unpolished) that got 110 with 3-2-7's and 80 with 3-2-MB at 51yds
I'd like to give the 3-2-6's a try this season.. should I stick with the .665 or try a .660
Great pattern!! POI needs to improve?
Kickin some butt....OLD-SCHOOL!! :icon_thumright:
I've been eye balling that exact same gun at a local gunsmith. I believe I may go talk to him about it. :z-guntootsmiley:
Looks real good, can't wait to see the other one.
Nice patterns!

just curious why your putting 2 shots and 5 shots in it why not put 1 shot and see how it patterns in a 10'' circle, from last time i hunted a turkeys head was about 10'' long and about 4'' thick so it seems that there is 3'' on both sides of the head thats wasted shot,,,,,
jmo
I have 5 dedicated turkey guns and my favorite of the bunch is the exact same 11-87 as yours....Identical. I've been shooting Hevi-13, 3-2-6 loads in it for about 4 seasons now with a Tru-Glo Strut Stopper X-Treme choke and getting results that average over 200 in the 10" circle at 40yds.
Your results are excellent and you will love that setup!

He shot each target once. He got the average of 5 shots from the 660 and the average of two shots from the 665. Hope this helps . Those are thick turkey necks where you last hunted.
Very nice even patterns, but not the huge numbers that people used to post up for Jelly Heads in Remingtons.
My 870 and Indian Creek .665 turned out 294 with the Hevi13 3-2-7 shell at 90 degrees, and 180 with the 3" Magnum Blend shell at 60 degrees.
Don't worry too much about the numbers. Good even coverage is where it's at, IMO.
I got about the same with a longer bbl:

.665 has been the ticket for me and hevi shot. More even pattern and better numbers as this test has shown as well.
:icon_thumright: :thanks: :fud: :OGani:
Very nice. My 11-87 likes a pure gold but i never tried a Jelly Head. I might when i have nothing better to do.
Great patterning and results... I'm itching to get my new 11-87 SM dialed in and your info is great to have as I am deciding on choke tube to try on the gun. Plan is to use Win HV 5s in 3 and 3.5 but nice to know what it could do if I pony up the cash for hevi13.
