We had a large group hanging out in Kansas City this winter. Apparently there was a huge hatch of owls last year and they are having to migrate further South for food due to more competition. Beautiful birds!
This happens about every 10 years, the lemmings their normal food in the artic dies out and they need to migrate here to eat.
They have no knowledge of humans and very few enemies so they seem very tame.
I have seen them on roofs quite often and walked within 10 feet of them.
They are beautiful birds.
Great pictures!
Cool pictures. We had some snowy owls in eastern Washington this winter. There were 3 that hung out in a winter wheat field for several weeks. I'm guessing they were feeding on mice?
Very Nice
