Anybody have any experience with a Carlson longbeard choke with the 870. Shooting #6 longbeards

I'd love to know the same. Same 21 in combo and shells here.

I am shooting the youth model 21" barrel. It has been my experience longbeard like a more open choke. The best patterning choke with #6 LB  in my gun is the Carlson's .568. Great pattern out to 35+

I run the exact combo you're looking for out of my 870 and Versamax. I personally wouldn't trade em for anything. TSS might be the new best option, but at the cost, I'm not really interested. I've killed birds at 50+ with the combo.

Does your 870 20ga have the short 21" barrel?

The combo you speak of is the LB choke and number 6s, or the Carlson 568 the other post spoke of?
Thanks in advance

Hey jakesdad, I have two 870 20 gauges. One with 21 inch barrel and one with 26 inch barrel. The 26 inch has a .570 final strut and the 21 inch has a .565 trulock. Both shoot 110-140 in a 10 inch circle at 40 yards. This is in temps ranging from low 30s to 50 degrees F.
I am sure the .568 Carlson's will shoot em great.
I only plan on hunting with them out of the 26" 870 because I have truglo sights on it and long beards shoot very tight. Especially as you get down to 25-30 yards. I will personally be hunting with the 21" bead site 870  using federal grand slam #5. They are solid out to 35 yards and much more forgiving in close. I've clean missed a couple birds that were just in too close and that was with .550 and hevi shot. So I'm giving up a little bit of range on the tail end for a more forgiving pattern in the ranges I normally encounter birds, under 30 yards.
