Painting over Hydro Dip?
May 02, 2022, 07:31:12 AM
Hey All,
I have a Benelli M2 that is Hydro dipped and the pattern is wearing off the receiver.
Anybody ever just paint over the Hydro Dip? Do you need something special?
Also think you clear coat the Hydro Dip to keep it from fading.
Thanks,

I have never painted over a dipped gun, but I have painted several shotguns. I just lightly sand off the protective finish if wood. If plastic, I use scotch bright pad to scuff. Prime and paint. I put satin clear coat on as final coating. Holds up extremely well. Have not had to repaint one yet.. it's all about the surface prep.
