Dr. Williams,
I have noticed a group of jakes in a field I hunt. They number 5 total.
Now on Friday, I noticed a tom with them for the first time, and the dominant jake in the group did all the strutting while the older bird stayed off to the side and would go in and out of strut.
Now the older bird kept his distance from the dominant jake and the hens. He would gobble, but stay away.
My question is how often does this occur?
