Just started shooting Tss and will be hand loading. Does anyone load 2 3/4 inch shells? All I am reading is about 3"  for a 20g and 3" or 3 1/2 for a 12g. Was wondering about a drop in performance. My patterns at 40 yds with the 3" in a 20g are incredibly dense. I shoot an Indian creek .555 20g TC pro hunter.

I thought that the shorter shell would still provide adequate pattern density, less recoil and be more cost effective?  I would appreciate any insight.

just info...i shoot 2 3/4, #6. lead loads out of my remington 26in barrel with a 555 indian creek choke, dead birds all the time, but the range is what's important.... my decoy setup and calling, aid in our success, distance for us is usually 20-25yds, but to each his own, good luck, russ

I load 2.75" 1&5/8 oz 9s for my 12 ga for less cost and less recoil. Does 345/10"; 192/10-20". Absolutely no need in the world for 2.25-2.5 oz of TSS to kill turkeys.

I use a similar load of 1.75 ounce 8.5's in 12 and a 1-7/16 ounce load of 9.5's in 20 gauge.

They are both devastating.

I know that Ronny and Hal both have loads for the 2 3/4 shells. I shoot one out of both of my  sa459 & x3 long beard. The load preforms well with 300 ish in the 10@40. killed two gobblers last spring with the load.  The loads are 1 5/8oz of TSS.  Same load will be leaving for Missouri in 12 days.

I've also shot birds with 2-3/4" lead loads...as Rock54 said, it will do the job at appropriate ranges.

That is a nice pattern at forty with the 2 2/4 load. Exactly the info I was looking for! Thanks for sharing.
