Will eat that head up at 40 yards. Had to shoot 6s in Maine. Was like smacking him a railroad cross tie. People turning their noses up because they arent 7s.

I will vouch for Del, dead was "STONE DEAD" in Maine

:icon_thumright: congrats on the nice bird, 157 with HW #6's I'd shoot them all day. IMO that's and awesome pattern right there

Doesn't leave much wiggle room but should flat hammer old Tom if you center him up.

I am shooting Remington 6's myself, they do a good job on paper, I have yet to get a bird.

I didn't get those numbers out of any of my 20's with the #6's, 120's all the time.  I would have been glad to shoot them.  I get 150's with the #7's HW.  180's with the Heavy 13 #7's, which I don't really understand because it's only 1 1/4 oz.  I know the shot is lighter, hence more pellets per oz, but 30 more at 40 yards in the 10?

What gun and choke with the Hevi-13 #7s?

Remington 1100 21" bbl ported and forcing cone work with an old style Remington extra full miced at .572.  Savage 220A 26" bbl ported forcing cone lengthened with Trulock extra full.

These numbers are almost exactly what I get out of my other two 20 ga set ups. A 870 21inch and weatherby sa08 28 inch. This little youth weatherby sa08  24 inch is a shooter though. Continues to put up big numbers. I steel tape all my shot distances, so they are dead on.

I run a truglo ssx 555 in the Rem 870...it puts up 170/180 patterns with hevi 13. I think they have a much better wad than federal. I know a guy that cut fed 7s out and handloaded them with normal wad. He patterns over 200 every shot.

Interesting!

I posted a sample of my patterns in another post on this page.
