I got a new 870 super mag in the new bottom land camo. It came with a turkey choke. What do you all recommend to do to it to get the best performance out of it ?

Hevi 13 3.5" 2.25oz #7's whether you opt for an aftermarket choke or not.

Those shells and a .665 Indian Creek got me 324 pellets in a 10" circle at 40 yards with a 23" barrel on my 870SM

I put a Blackhawk (recoil reduction) Camo Spec Ops stock on my gun and it tamed it down a lot.

Put a Limbsaver pad on it, get a Jellyhead .665 and some Hevi-13's and have fun. You have a turkey killer.

That's my preferred length of barrel for an all-around shotgun. It will surve the purpose for wingshooting as well. And yes, it's worth polishing.

Nothing at all wrong with the 26". A polish should help too. :icon_thumright:

Mine likes 3" H-13 5's/6's.

Patterns went to crap after polishing.  Getting better shot by shot though.

So far, a Jellyhaid .660 seems to be working fine.

With 3", the gun is a dream to shoot for me  :)

I'm shooting one with 26" barrel no problems at all. I'm using an IC .665.  Gets good numbers in Winchester lead and extended range 3" 6's. 50 yrd gun no problems.

First of all, congratulations. That's a fine gun. The 26" barrel is just about perfect in my experience.

I'd just "deep clean" the bore and your choke. Clean the fire control unit (trigger group) and then shoot some inexpensive shells through it to check POA/POI.

I'd also recommend that you consider the 3" Hevi-13 "Bronze" shells with 2 oz. of #6 or #7 shot.

You should be ready to go.

All my best,
Clark
