What do you guys use as far as a clear finish on your calls. I normally use a satin poly, but after a few coats the calls get that "plastic" look.

Should I switch to a water based clear?

Sorry, i am talking mainly on pots

I am very new to call making but I have also used Tru-Oil on the few calls that I have made so far and I really like the results.  I usually put on 3-4 coats with light sanding in between the first 2-3 and if the 3rd coat is nice and smooth I might put on one extra coat just to add a little more gloss to the finish.

I believe that C A is the best finish you can put on a call. It is kind of hard to learn how to get it right but when you do it looks great!
