Just starting to turn pot calls. I just order enough stuff to make 5 calls. I'm gonna make 1 slate overglass in a cherry pot for sure. I ordered enough to make 1 more slate call  1 Glass over aluminium 1 glass over glass and 1 aluminum over glass. Looking for wood suggestions for pots. And has any one tried the glass over aluminum?

For wood suggestions, I would go with walnut or cherry.  These woods are pretty easy to find, have good tonal qualities, won't break the bank and are good to learn with.  They are pretty much the "industry standard" for mass produced wood calls, so they have a proven track record.

Thank you for the advise. Ive been turning strikers mostly out of cedar, walnut, hickory, and cherry. What other wood types are good for strikers from your experience?

I love a padauk striker... I also really like cherry, osage, maple, and bubinga... It's really a matter of preference and striker design, IMO.  Those woods just seem to like my striker design best.
