Choke recommendations for #4 lead
February 25, 2023, 10:16:18 PM
Hello I'm looking for recommendations for choke tubes for 12ga 3.5" #4 lead shot, both Win LBXR and Remington Nitro Turkey shot out of a winchester sxp long beard. I was going to go with a Carlson's Long Beard XR, but I have heard that it may not as well with #4.
I had good sucess with a patternmaster anaconda striker .670 with the rem #4 in a different gun.
Thanks!

My 870 with. .665 constriction throws #4 very well. But each gun/choke combo is different.

We just patterned my buddies SX4 with the carlson xr choke. It shot awesome groups with 3.5" #4's & #5's. We shot both in the magnums & regular xr's. It likes em all. Nice, well spaced patterns all the way to 60 yards with everything.
I'd think that the pump barrel would perform similarly.
Man that Winchester really impressed me. They're doing something right for sure.
Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.

One of my personal current interests is nest predators and how a majority of hunters, where legal bait to the extent of chumming coons. However once they get the predators concentrated they don't control them.
