Federal has introduced a new 2.75" 20 gauge turkey load. It uses the Flitecontrol Wad with 1.125 oz of #7 Heavyweight shot (250 pellets) at 1100 f.p.s. with the same downrange energy as a 1.5 oz. load of #5 lead shot and a 40% reduction in recoil over their 3" 20 gauge (their figures).

That may be a very interesting shell. Only time will tell.

Are you sure on that pellet count?  I thought the 1.5 oz load had about 280, so the 1 1/8 oz. would be closer to 210.

That is the information from the press release that I was sent from Federal. Those are all their numbers on count and velocity.

Hey Clark, Think it would be possible to ever see it in a 2.75 12 ga. load??

Clark,
Thanks for passing that on. That sounds like an ideal tight timber/close range load and sweet to shoot.

I think that's possible, given the price of tungsten-based shot, a 2.75" shell with a lower payload could be sold for less, in addition to it having less recoil, and with the added benefit of being able to chamber it in older 2.75" guns.
